Spring at The Markets

POSTED BY Pink Ribbon Cooking / April 15, 2013

Pink Ribbon Cooking

Spring is a wonderful season, especially for those of us that spend time at the markets and in our kitchens.  The essence of Spring is rejuvenation and new life.  We can capture this for ourselves with the foods we eat.

Look for these items in the markets today and let us help you create a simple and healthy dish!

Spinach
Sweet Carrots
Peas & Pea Tendrils
Morel Mushrooms
Fiddlehead Ferns
Asparagus
Beets & Beet Greens
Radishes
Navel Oranges
Maple Syrup
Ramps (wild leeks)
Spring Onions
Lettuce & Various Greens
Grapefruit
Fava Beans

One of the basic tenants of Pink Ribbon Cooking’s philosophy on food is to cook with the freshest foods available to you.  With the adoption of a seasonal and local approach to food and cooking you will be able to enjoy foods that tend to be grown and harvested closer to home or shipped with little to no delay form field to market.  This allows more nutrient dense and better tasting foods into your diet, ultimately providing more satisfaction, bite for bite.

Try some of these recipes with the foods you find in your market!
